Brene Brown’s Call to Courage
Brene Brown has a special on Netflix about vulnerability. It’s about an hour, and if you want some inspiration about courage and vulnerability I highly recommend it. I was planning on jotting down my opinions and thoughts about the special, but honestly, I found so much of it inspirational. So I’m going to put down some of her thoughts that really spoke to me, and let them (her) speak for herself. First off she has a TED talk. This is how she got her start as an inspirational speaker and author. She also references her book, Daring Greatly. I have this on my to read list. And now for some highlights from her Netflix special:…

Learning through Masterclass: Mental Strength with Robin Arzon
Are you familiar with Masterclass? It’s basically a site with mini classes taught by well known people in an area of their expertise. There are courses in everything from food and cooking, to music and the arts, business, science, wellness and everything in between. There’s such a wealth of knowledge, I thought they might be fun to discuss on this blog. I decided to start with Robin Arzon. Who I knew nothing about, by the way. She spoke about mental strength, and what I related to the most was when she talked about transitioning from what she had spent her life focusing on and completely switching to something entirely different. Which is…

Finding My Wildly Authentic Self, Courtesy of Maria Shriver
I was originally going to focus today’s post on Maria Shriver’s weekly newsletter, particularly, this post. She wrote it at the beginning of the year as a kind of taking stock of where things are and where they’re going. More so, where you want them to go. At the same time, I’m sitting here putting together my work objectives for this year for my 9-5 desk job. (Yes, in case you’re wondering, I am procrastinating the job thing by writing this blog post!) Also, it is the end of March at the time I’m writing this, the astrological new year, around the spring equinox, and there’s a new moon at the end…

Some Quotes from Ghosted by Rosie Walsh
I find sometimes that there are quotes that just sort of jump out at you from whatever you’re reading, or watching, or even listening to. Sometimes that meaning is part of the story that’s in front of you, but I find more often than not, they’re meaningful to YOU, and whatever is going on in YOUR LIFE, right at precisely THAT MOMENT. I believe this is what some call SYNCHRONICITY. It’s like the universe is sending you a message that yes, you are on the right track. And THIS! RIGHT HERE! PAY ATTENTION TO IT! Sometimes these are not always things we want to pay attention to, but they are…

The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron
So I finished it! Only took me a year. Well, actually more like 20 years and a year. I received this book as a gift from a friend years ago. Probably for my birthday, actually our birthday, cause our birthdays were one day apart. She wrote me an encouraging inscription in the front, about inspiration and transformation and great endeavors of flight. You see even then, twenty years ago, I was trying to figure myself out, who I was, who I wanted to be, where I saw my place in this world. But my friend also drew me a picture of a Phoenix rising from the ashes. It looks a…
