This week it snowed, and it was really really cold. So, I didn’t get out much to walk. I tried doing videos to make up for the fact that I wasn’t getting out much. Well, really at all this week, except to shovel. I thought they would sort of counterbalance the fact that I wasn’t walking too much this week. I definitely was sore and felt all the muscles that were getting targeted, but as you can see it didn’t actually affect much change. Not in the direction I wanted anyway. And I got so disgusted with my numbers going up that I didn’t even do all of my measurements. I know I shouldn’t be down on myself, but sometimes it’s really hard. I suppose we all have our off weeks or days, that’s part of the self care process, I think. As long as we give ourselves space to feel all the feels, and then get back up and keep going. This is the important part: KEEP GOING!

Monday: Total step count for the day: 3799

Snow. Lots of Snow. About a foot to be exact. The all day kind. You know, where you shovel, but then you look back, and it looks like you did nothing? Yeah, that kind. It was a good thing I had off from work, and by the end of the day I was kind of sore and tired. I really thought I would have gotten more out of the shoveling, but maybe not.

I did this one: 3 Mie Walk Morning Cardio Abs Workout at Home

So with the foot of snow piled high from the shoveling, and assuming it was pretty high on the boardwalk, instead of taking a walk this morning, I did this video. It was about 45 minutes long and yes, it definitely targeted my abs. So now after shoveling yesterday for about 3 hours total, my arms ache, and now my abs are aching. So I guess tomorrow, my legs? I’m still going to do another video this afternoon. One that’s more like 20-30 minutes. I figure if I can’t get out for a walk in the mornings, then I’ll do a longer video to replace the walk. But a morning video doesn’t negate doing a shorter one in the afternoon. At least this is the game plan for now. We’ll see how this week shapes up. I’m really missing my walks in the morning, but there’s supposed to be another possible storm on Friday. Hopefully it doesn’t dump another foot of snow.

I also did this one from Pahla B Fitness + Life CoachFAST WALK to Kickstart WEIGHT LOSS | 5PD #1

So being that I am somewhere in the early stages of perimenopause, I thought I might try a fitness routine based on that. I found Pahla in my Youtube suggestions and thought I’d give her a try. The workout was simple and easy, and quick! Always nice. It’s the start of a “lose 5 pounds each month this year” playlist. I’m not exactly sure what I think. She’s very low key, and has more of a life coach feel than a fitness coach, which for someone like me, who really doesn’t like the fitness thing and, I suppose, can feel a bit intimidated by it all, Pahla’s low key style really helped. She does have a bit of a goofy feel, but I think that may be part of her charm. I want to go through a couple more routines before I decide if I like this style or not. I got a bit of a workout, but not nearly what I do with GrowWithJo. Although, Pahla does mention that when going through menopause, you actually want to do things differently than normal and actually too much exercise could keep you from losing weight cause of where your body is at. But I just want to see after week of doing Jo in the mornings (or a walk if it’s not snowing) and Pahla in the afternoons, what happens.

I did this one: Do This Low Impact Workout Everyday To Seriously Lose Weight

This one was another GrowWithJo. And it was longer than yesterday’s, but see where it says “low impact”? Yeah, that makes a difference. I made it through the whole video. I paused a couple of times, but there were no movements where I was like, “Oh hell no.” I’m definitely feeling it in my butt, my abs, my shoulders. Although that may still be from the shoveling on Monday, not sure. The other interesting thing I’ve noticed, is on the days I exercise, I’m more alert, and more awake. Now I did have trouble falling asleep last night, and I’m not sure if that’s related at all or is more of a menopause thing. We’ll see.

Thursday: Total step count for the day: 2372

went for ice melt and busy day at work. Didn’t get to exercise. It happens. I’m trying not to beat myself up for not getting in my steps, but I’m getting kind of stir crazy not being able to get out at all because of the snow.

Friday: Total step count for the day: 2715

I did this one: 3 MILE FAST Walking to Lose Belly Fat (burns 600 calories!)

Well, I got myself up this morning I did a 45 minutes workout. So this will be my 4th day exercising, if you count Monday and the snow shoveling. It took about 3 hours total, so I’m considering that a workout. My arms, shoulders and back were really aching the next day… definitely a workout. But then yesterday I didn’t do anything. I went and got more ice melt first thing instead of a video, and then work was really busy so I didn’t get in an afternoon video either. Today, well, it’s off to a good start. Funny, though, it seemed easier this morning to do the movements. Like I feel that I was going faster and it took longer for me to poop out. I’m wondering how this will all translate when I measure myself on Monday. There’s more snow today so I may use that as my second exercise session of the day. Cause I’ll be using my lunch hour to shovel instead of a video. And tomorrow, I may go out for a walk. Hopefully enough of the snow will have melted by then. And I haven’t been out for a walk all week, and I’m kind of going stir crazy. Even with all the exercise videos!
