Get your life out of reverse!
I’ve been dreaming a lot lately. Often of trains, or cars, or other modes of transportation. Sometimes I’m driving, and sometimes I’m a passenger. In my most recent dream, I was a passenger, and the I knew the driver in my dream but not in real life, and he was driving backwards! So I went and looked it up at Dreammoods.com: “To dream that you are driving a car denotes your ambition, your drive and your ability to navigate from one stage of your life to another. If you are driving the car, then you are taking an active role in the way your life is going. However, if you are the passenger,…

So, I didn’t get out much to walk. I tried doing videos to make up for the fact that I wasn’t getting out much. Well, really at all this week, except to shovel. I thought they would sort of counterbalance the fact…

Morning Pages, Beneficial Even if Not Done as Prescribed?
I’ve been writing morning pages for about two years. Not so consistently at first. I had never really journaled before that point, so it was all a really new experience for me, and the consistency part wasn’t my strong suit at first. I have found them to be very helpful though in time, in much the way Julia Cameron intended them to be: they’ve helped quiet all the negative voices swirling in my head, or at least slowed the spin. They’ve helped me get more focused on things, and able to hear my inner creative voice better. They’ve given me space to vent and question, organize and strategize, and overall helped me…

Keeping Promises to Myself
I’ve taken a bit of time off but now, I‘m back. And ready to show up. For me. Cause the first, possibly the best habit I could have is showing up for myself. Which means keeping my promises to myself. And that may all sound a bit hokey. And what I’m about to say may sound even more so, but in doing all that shadow work, (I’ll put a link to that blog post one I’m done writing it) I got in touch with my inner child. And it occurred to me that if I’m going to work on healing my inner child, then I need to think of her…

The dates listed are Mondays when I took my measurements. Not sure why I chose Mondays, but there you go. It’s rather cool to see that my arms and legs went down even though my weight stayed the same. And I was getting my period last week, actually got it on Sunday, so…

10,000 Steps and GrowWithJo – Week Two
Did you see my stats from last week?! I’m headed in the right direction! At first this week I was going to just walk in the afternoon. A 2.5 mile walk so definitely not a stroll, but I wouldn’t have been targeting my arms or my abs. I had just about talked myself out of doing the GrowWithJo videos because I’ve just never really liked doing exercise videos, really exercising for the sake of exercising at all. And so in general, I really have to talk myself into putting them on and doing them. Also this weekend, I wasn’t really feeling like I had made a difference. I had a bit…

10,000 Steps and #GrowWithJo – Week One
This week I decided to take a lunch break, which I haven’t been doing at all, and decided to use it for an exercise video each day, #GrowWithJo.

Motivation – It Takes Baby Steps. And a Different Mindset
I’ve been rethinking this whole going for a walk thing. And I realize that my problem isn’t in the moving part, it’s the getting out the door part. And I’ve tried (sort of, not really) to get out. During the day is hard. And I have always liked the morning better. It’s just the getting up part. Marty is coming to stay with us for a week, and he does get me up and at ‘em early in the morning. Wait, let me back up a bit… Marty is a Labrador. When his humans go to visit grandkids, it usually involves a plane and at least a couple of weeks,…

My 10,000 Steps Challenge
I’ve decided that I need to start moving more. Between the pandemic, working from home, this pre/peri menopausal middle (and thighs!) I’m starting to feel, well, downright sloth like. I do normally eat fairly healthy, I think anyway. Grain-free (or mostly), very limited dairy and sugar. I don’t consider myself a fanatic about stuff, an I’m not a nutritionist or anything. But bout 10 years ago or so I found this book and this one, and they changed my whole way of thinking about food. That summer that I followed exactly these eating guidelines I lost about 25 pounds, my skin cleared up, my body odor practically disappeared, I was sleeping better, and…

Organize Your Things, Keep Life Calm
So, that sounds pretty simplistic, doesn’t’ it? Easier said than done, I can hear you thinking. Well, I’m right there with ya. And as someone who playfully dubs herself the “Queen of Messes,” I too have had major moan moments of, “there’s a mess again? How did this happen? Why is that stuff piling up? Again?!” Now, I’m not here to attempt to teach you how to organize your things. That’s better left to someone like Marie Kondo. And if you’re needing help getting started may I refer you to her book, or her Netflix series. She’s got a lot of tips for sorting, organizing, repurposing, etc. So, although I’m not the…
